A bit more than ten years ago, I gave the first-ever RCU conference presentation (though this was a few years before it became known as “RCU”). The presentation went reasonably well, in fact almost half of the attendees stayed awake. One of them came up to me after everyone else had departed and asked “So, when is this going to go into DYNIX/ptx?”
I will never forget the look on his face when I told him that not only was it already in DYNIX/ptx, it has also been in production use in high-end datacenters for about five years.
